For anyone interested in wildlife, a canoe trip through the mangroves in Khor Kalba is a stimulating way of passing leisure time. Take a bird book with you and try to spot the White Collared Kingfisher, which breeds only here and is in danger of extinction. The Khor is easy to find, just follow the coast road past Fujairah and the town of Kalba and you eventually reach a single lane bridge at the start of the mangroves. There are many places to camp. The reserve is a unique and protected area, so remember to treat it with respect and leave no rubbish behind.
