Sharjah International Airport yesterday received EN ISO 14001:2004 certification from RWTUV, the German certification body, in environmental management procedures.
The recognition came after Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA) established and implemented an environmental management system for Ground Handling Services, IT Department, Sharjah Airport Travel Agency, Administration and Commercial, Engineering and Development, Purchasing, Central Stores and Ground Services, Equipment and Vehicle Maintenance, and the Terminal Services Department.
The SAA officials stated that being an EN ISO 14001:2004 certified body, the airport will reiterate its commitment towards the employees, passengers, clients, suppliers, and the community where they need to stress the importance of health, security and protecting the environment.
The Quality Management Section, at Sharjah Airport Authority, which was established in 2004, has made tremendous efforts in liaising with ISO representatives to ensure full adherence to international quality systems in all airport departments and the continuous communication of quality systems to all airport staff to protect resources, minimise waste and pollution, and develop the operations flow.
